Be bright after dark

BRIEF:

This is a proactive idea we created for Crimestopppers, a crime-fighting charity. According to Crimestoppers, if you have to walk alone at night, to keep yourself safer you should always walk with purpose, keep away from dark or deserted areas and avoid using smartphones or wearing headphones.

INSIGHT:

We all do things we know we shouldn’t. Because we don’t consider the consequences.

IDEA:

The idea is to make people to experience danger, without ever putting them at risk. We want to use projection mapping to create a digital shadow to stalk people’s real shadows as they’re walking alone at night. We’d use a reformed criminal to pick out easy targets.

The projection-mapped shadows will stalk people who are alone in unlit or deserted areas, obviously drunk, walking without purpose, loitering at ATM machines, carrying unsecured bags, wearing headphones, using their phones or simply not paying attention to their surroundings.

The shadow will follow people down the street in real time, reacting to their movements and eventually becoming very ominous.

As soon as people notice the shadow, we’ll turn on the lights and remove them from the danger they’ve inadvertently put themselves in.

We’ll then project a relevant educational message on to the wall.
